For us, the process of taking a brief is always a two-way discussion. When developing a visual identity it’s even more important in the briefing process to understand the people behind the brand, and define the people the brand is trying to resonate with.

We ask questions designed to provoke and inspire, digging deep to find the core principles that need to be demonstrated. Whether it’s a re-brand or a completely new development, the same questions need to be asked, because in all cases the brand needs to communicate the core values and principles.

Led by the brief, we sketch out our initial logo developments and brand elements, keeping in mind the values and principles established in the brief. We continue to develop the ideas to a point where they are presentable and can show them in-context.

We then present our selected concepts to you for feedback and a chosen direction. Context here is key, you can never fully appreciate a visual identity until you see it in it’s intended context.

Once a direction is chosen that most accurately matches the brand values and principles, we can further develop the concept armed with any feedback given as part of the presentation.

It’s important to take into consideration the places the visual identity will most often be seen, and make sure it works in ALL instances.

The result should be a cohesive brand identity that effectively communicates the core values, and that everyone involved can feel proud of.

We will have carefully considered the impact of colour, the logo, typography, photography, and spacing. All of these will then be defined and recorded in the brand guidelines.
